With three games left in the regular season, district races are heating up across the South Plains. Here are preview of a few marquee match-ups around the Hub City.

Sundown @ Tahoka

BREAKDOWN: This past Friday, the Roughettes took care of Plains, that also helped clinched a playoff spot. With a victory against Tahoka, the Roughettes could clinch the district title in 5-2A. However, the Lady Dogs look to even the district race behind district leader Natalie Stice. The Roughettes will need a good showing from the senior-junior low post duo of Jenna Legan and Caycee Holson to clinch district hardware

Littlefield @ Shallowater

BREAKDOWN: The Lady Cats are winners of their past six district games, propelling Kendall Webb’s team to the top of District 2-3A with a 9-2 record and a No. 19 ranking in the recent Texas Association of Basketball Coaches poll. For the Fillies, who are winner of two in their last four district games, will be looking for consistency to wrap up district with a 7-4 record and to potentially break a tie for the final playoff spot with Muleshoe. Littlefield will be looking to low post standout Kaylee Edgemon to potentially lead them to a seven-game winning streak. Shallowater look to include Jayden Willer, Cayenne Williams and Cailyn Breckel in their scoring attack.

Roosevelt @ Idalou

BREAKDOWN: The Lady Eagles, who are winners in their four of their last five district games, are knotted up at second in the district race with tonight’s opponent, Idalou. The Lady Cats fell to Roosevelt in their previous meeting on Jan. 6, courtesy of a late surge by the Lady Eagles. In a craze-filled District 2-3A, the winner of this game could be the second seed, pending other results of the future district matchups.
