SUNDOWN – Audrey Moreno hit a home run early in the game early for Post but the fireworks to start the game was not enough as Sundown fought back despite allowing three home runs in a 7-6 victory on Thursday morning.
Bryanna Day helped the Roughettes take the lead with a lead off single that sparked an offensive momentum. Mickaela Rubacalva recorded a two run RBI single that to bring the lead to 2-1 after an inning of play.
The Lady Lopes would retake the lead as Kally Comeaux and Kelby Tidwell posted base hit doubles that led to two more runs for Post.
Randolph had the answer for Sundown, hitting a triple in the fourth inning. Moreno had her pitching struggles in the inning, as she walked four that plated two runs for the Roughettes.
Post attempted to win the game as Miranda Perez hit a solo homer to left center field but fly outs guided Sundown to a hard-fought victory to improve to 4-0 in district play.
Reese Randolph picked up the win, where she struck out six batters, walked three and allowed six runs on 11 hits.
Moreno recorded the loss for Post in the circle as she struck out five batters, walked eight and allowed seven runs on eight hits.
