If you may recall, former Shallowater offensive coordinator Kevin Sherrill was a finalist for the head coaching gig, as favored by athletes heading to the board meeting to see who would be named the head coach of the Mustangs.
Chad Terry was named the Shallowater head coach and was then reassigned after a rare losing season for the Mustangs.
Now, after being the offensive coordinator at the Big Country power Eastland, Sherril will return to the south plains as he was named the Ralls athletic director and head football coach.
Last season, Sherrill engineered an offense that scored about 42 points per game in an 8-4 season that included a regional quarterfinal loss to eventual state semifinalist, Canadian, 34-20.
Sherrill had previously held tenures at O’Donnell and Anton.
The Ralls board is set to meet on Monday, March 27 for approval.
If approved, Sherrill will be replacing Jeff Caffey, who resigned from the post back last month.
