1. Monahans (9-3)
The best runing back in the Basin returns in Tylan McAlister after a 1,751 rushing season with 28 touchdowns en route to a district title. With four starters returning, DB Michael Smith returns to led the Lobo secondary, leading the team in tackles in 2016 with 53.
2. Odessa Permian (6-4)
Missing out in the playoffs in 2017, MOJO is poised to make noise in 2-6A with eight offensive and nine defensive starters returning. Brother Miller, who can play running back and wide receiver after a 627 all-purpose yard season along with four touchdowns season, returns after an ACL injury and hopes to lead the Panthers back to district glory.
3. Seminole (9-4)
Division I prospect Cade Barnard and Texas commit Reese Moore return and into leadership roles respectively for Kent Jackson’s squad. TE Moore, who tallied three touchdowns and recorded 35 tackles defensively, will also be leading to Indians in a potential deep run.
4. Andrews (11-2)
Another solid quarterback Triston Williams departs for Midwester State but Jace Keesee takes over behind center. Two-way players in Casey Buck, Noah Lujan and Beau Narrell will be playmakers on both sides of the ball in order for a deep playoff run.
5. Midland (9-3)
A new coach comes in Tim Anuszkiewicz after veteran Craig Yenzer retires. Anuszkiewicz will start with a young squad with three offensive starters and four defensive players returning.
